Ukraine remains visa-free for the West
2011 Feb Despite the conservative pro-Russian government still in control of some of the areas of life in Ukraine at this time, Ukraine is set to remain open and visa-free for the Western world, thanks to the changes initiated by President Yuschenko following the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. Any moves by Ukraine to tighten its entry requirements are unlikely and would go against the general bilateral relaxation of entry requirements between the EU and Ukraine. Ukraine, together with Poland, is getting ready to receive crowds of European football fans as a co-host country for the European football cup of 2012. Cross-border procedures are expected to be further simplified, and new border crossings will be opened for the event.
